RCC College Promise

Riverside City College (RCC) will be joining the national and the statewide effort to ensure that our students receive a quality community college education at low or no cost to them.  The RCC Promise covers the cost of tuition, fees, and books while providing integrated academic support, tailored especially for full-time students whose goal is to graduate and be transfer ready in two years*.

Some things you should know about RCC Promise

The Promise launches in the fall with 1,000 scholars

Eligibility is not determined by financial need

The benefits include:

·         Free tuition

·         Free fees

·         Free tablet

·         Up to $250 in book grants each Fall and Spring semester

  • Priority Registration for up to 15 units each fall and spring semester
  • Dedicated Counselors
  • Educational Advisors
  • Faculty Advisors
  • Academic Support (tutoring and peer mentors)
  • Co curriculum activities that contribute to academic success

Current students are eligible if they:

·         Began as a first time college student in the summer of 2016 or later (F’16, W’17, S’17).

·         Are a California Resident, AB 540/Dream Act eligible

·         Have RCC as the home campus

·         Have a current cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater

·         Are eligible to enroll in English 1A or higher and College Level Math by Fall 2017

·         Are committed to attending college full time (12-15 units each fall and spring for a total of 30 units each year)

·         Attend an information session and sign a Promise Contract.

How to apply

Current students with these criteria have been identified and invited to attend an information session. Students can reserve a seat for an information session at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RCCThePromise

New students are eligible if they:

·         Are first time college students starting summer or fall 2017

·         Graduated from a HS in Riverside, Alvord, and Jurupa Unified School District​

·         Are a California Resident, AB 540/Dream Act eligible

·         Have Riverside City College as home campus

·         Commit to being a full time student (12-15 units each fall and spring for a total of 30 units each year)

·         Are eligible to enroll in English 1A or higher and College Level Math by Fall 2017

How to apply

RCC will contact eligible new students with instructions and directions to the on-line Promise application.  To be considered, New Students must have applied to RCC and completed their Assessment.

Priority will be given to applications and Contracts received by May 24th 2017.

*Some programs may require more than 2 years for completion.
